Editing Can Sometimes Feel Like Moving Backwards…

… but is always worth it.

Dismantling major scenes can take longer because the ripples force changes for little areas, both before and after the scene. But it’s a great feeling seeing Ky’kias P3’s quite messy-in-places first draft taking shape into something really, really fun. Can’t wait to hand it over to the beta readers soon.

On an unrelated note, I saw the sneak-peek of the pilot for Jim Gaffigan’s new show, The Jim Gaffigan Show. It will be on TV Land. It was fun. Similar to Maron and Louie, but in some ways a little safer, and in some ways lighter. Only once did I have to get up and watch, like, cringing from the kitchen because of of the awkwardness of a scene. Some Louie episode I just need to pace as I watch to get through, haha. But yeah, can’t wait to see more.

Updates & Excitement

I’m very happy to announce that if you ever feel like heading to my full website, it’s now responsive. In theory, it should look great on laptops, tablets, and phones. It has on all the devices I’ve tested it on so far, but by all means let me know if you notice something wonky. I’m a web design when not writing, and I’ve been meaning to implement a more responsive or fluid design for a long time. I’m happy to finally go forward with it.

Also, I’m about 5 chapters into editing Ky’kias Part Three’s first draft so that I can send it to my beta readers to get the first round of comments. Ky’kias Part Two still needs that cover, but I’m actually working on a cover redesign concept for the series, so that’s a bit on hold. I can be working on the covers some more during the time it takes to get comments. I did recently read through Part Two again and just loved it. I can’t wait to share more about Oran and Glenn’s adventure.

Now, back to editing!

Updates & Excitement

#01: Dear Future Self, Starting Things

Dear Future Self,

One day you’re going to look back and find that starting wasn’t as hard as you thought.

That day is not today.

But at least Ky’kias Part Two is finished except for the tricky, tricky, cover. Ky’kias Part Three’s first draft is being edited, and you still love it, which is a good sign. And you think you’ve actually figured out the major change for the last third of Damsel so you can finish that first draft too. Your beta readers are awesome and patient.

Progress is steady. Don’t listen to the voices in your head when they’re just being trolls. And yes, you can listen to Steps by Handsome Ghost another ten times in a row so long as you edit while you listen.

The Chosen of Ky’kias: Part Two Sneak Peek!

“What can you do about it?” The leader cackled, voice so high it might as well have shattered all the glass in the room. He tugged harder, making the woman cry out as he tried to pry the box brutally from her arms.

“Well,” Glenn said, as his fist slammed into the man’s side. The man slumped to the ground, coughing. “The first thing I decided to do was get your hands off that box. With that goal accomplished, how about we talk?”
